This single-family house (on rustic ground) with a swimming pool is developed in a plot which has a slight slope in a north-south direction; it is located on a small hill in the municipality of Manacor. The slightly elevated location allows the development of a functional programme for the house on only one floor. This way we can design a comfortable and functional house, in which the rooms are arranged and positioned according to the needs, creating then an accessible space with a good light positioning for each space.
The house typology is a traditional one, even though the ground floor lets us reduce the solid impression that the Majorcan stone gives. The roof is inclined and is made with Arabian tiles, which perfectly adapts to the surrounding and also to the legal urban laws for rural areas. The ceilings are inclined and include wooden beams. In order to lighten the slope towards the swimming pool, a garden area arranged in wall’s slopes was designed, where lawn and native plants have been planted.
To finish, the house is arranged in a specific way, so that the best can be made out of the north-south positioning, using a demesne in the north part of the house, and using a typical Majorcan porch in the south part of the house with views to the town.
