The young owners of this property were quite clear about what their new house had to be like. A practical, comfortable house of not too big dimensions and aesthetics that combine the austerity of a typical town property and the contemporary needs of a young couple, who at that time did not have any children.
The plot dimensions are limited, just 100 m2. Instead of being a disadvantage, this was an advantage since we could develop from the very beginning the will of the clients in a house which would become functional and with reasonable dimensions. Like a town house, the façade aesthetic is traditional, introducing the wood of the shutters, the patio access fence, the vertical axes, the typical proportions of the old town and the inclined woof with Arabian tiles.
Moreover, the back patio becomes an essential part of the house. It is so important that it can be seen from the street when you look through the porch, where the owners park their motorbike and keep their dog.
While the façade is austere and plain, following the line-up that the road dictates, the back façade, in the patio, presents a contrast in which two walls mix together melting into one. It is a great solution to the limited dimensions of the patio, with has a lawn.
The indoor area is pragmatic, austere but modern. An black iron double height staircase opens up the access, and then you encounter a bedroom with a diaphanous space designed for multiple use. The living room and a small kitchen surround the patio and open to it thanks to big wooden openings, with a continuous pavement in a cream colour.
